A place for the Sutton place community to share ideas, post items for sale or swap, to find information about the building and board meetings (coming soon, I hope!).

ANNUAL ASSOCIATION MEETING
SAVE THE DATE!!
Hi, All: The annual Sutton Place Condo Association meeting is being held on Thursday, October 21, 2010. I don't know the time--probably around 7:00 or 7:30 p.m. This is usually held in the basement of the Seattle Baptist Church near the Polyclinic on Seneca. I do not know when official accouncements will be provided. It is quite important that as many of the owners attend the meeting--so we'll look forward to seeing you there!

Cat in the Walkway
Hi, All! Twice over the past week, I've spotted a beautiful young cat in our walkway that is next to our outdoor parking lot. S/He is light gray and perhaps 5 months of age. On Saturday, I followed him around to front of the building, when he crossed the street over toward Stimson-Green. I don't know if he's ferral, stray, or what. He's lovely, anyway--and perhaps is birding and squirreling at our place. I didn't spot a collar or a tag, and hope he has a home. Unsure where he lives.

Meet and greet?
I think it would be fun for all of us to gather within the next few weeks! We don't really have a place for socializing when the pool is closed, and I feel like really loose touch with my neighbors during the cooler months. Perhaps we can all try to gather more interest in this blog so that we can have a more successful community blog.
In the meantime, spread the word about Sutton Place Times!
Personally, I have concerns about being fully informed about goings on in the building, as well as being truly represented on the board. The annual meeting is coming up, so I think now is a good time to consider some topics that we may like to have addressed at that time.

Thanks so much for setting up this blog. More and more things about Sutton Place are becoming quite frustrating, including the nearly complete lack of communication or availability to communicate with the tenants, Board, etc. Not to mention the pool closing earlier than ever, in spite of it being 75 degrees today. I really appreciate having a place to learn about what other tenants are feeling and going through about various aspects of our building, and having a place to share my own concerns. S.M.

Board minutes
Speaking of the bulletin board, at the last annual meeting, it was _very_ clear that condo owners wanted the minutes to be distributed and/or mailed to them. There was one newsletter-type reporting of the minutes taped in the lobby after that meeting, then Nothing!
What is the board doing to make sure that the association members are informed of what is going on in this building?
Where is the transparency?
Why don't the owners have any say in how this building is run?
Oh, joy! Finally!
Thank you, thank you, Josh, for creating this blog!
We meant to try doing so ourselves, but are, alas, technically challenged. I believe it will be a wonderful--and overdue--vehicle for Sutton Place residents to keep in touch and share information. We no longer have a bulletin board opposite the mailbox, and the "sharing" bookcase in the laundry room has also disappeared. So this will give us a way to offer one another our "junque" and advertise large items for sale, as well as warn one another of issues that affect our neighborhood. It will also enable us to directly rent storage space and parking spaces to and from one another. And, of course, to disseminate information re: board meetings, pool and other shared amenity issues, quality of contractors and services for our units--there are so many helpful possibilities.
Because Paul and I only live here for a small part of the year, we have felt quite out of the loop, and I'm sure the same is true for other out-of-town homeowners. I hope we'll see a lot of sign-ups accumulating in the coming weeks and months.
Because I've been doing a lot of renovation this year, I'll soon be listing my takes on various businesses I've worked with. We could create our own little "Angie's List" as well as our own "eBay."
So again, thanks!

Welcome!
Here's to the start of the Sutton Place Times. I'm hoping we can use this as a community gathering place and more! It would be great if everyone who owns a condo here joins this blog. I can add them to the author list and then we can all post-including photos! (maybe you have a sofa you're trying to sell? a service to offer? a new night club opening?).
